Originally from Germany, Katja moved to Finland in 2011 to live with Philip and his dogs. She brings German efficiency to Ruka Husky and organises the clients and the kennel.

Justin joined us in autumn 2017 as a trainee and is now part of the main Ruka Husky team. He is a qualified wilderness guide and brings a lot of knowledge about the environment, nature and bushcraft with him. He participated in his first long distance race in 2018 and finished with a good looking team in 10th place.

Jelena will be attending the wilderness guide school in Kittilä in autumn 2018. She has worked with sled dogs her whole life and wants to continue in the sled dog business.

Niall, originally from Ireland, will be our trainee for the winter season 2018/2019. He is a student at the Kuru wilderness guide school and did two of his vocational trainings at The Border Inn. Niall has discovered the world of dog sledding a little bit later in life, but shows great promise and enthusiasm.
Hobbies: Music, snowboarding, alpine touring
Ferran is a qualified wilderness guide from Catalonia, who joined our team in early September as a trainee. First challenges like learning dog names and harnessing dogs have been mastered, but there is still a lot more to learn.
Hobbies: skiing, hiking
Lena is a qualified physiotherapist from Germany, who was looking for an adventure in Scandinavia. She will be our second trainee for the season. Lena enjoys working with animals in an outdoor environment.
